Document Review
Do you have a lease, contract, insurance policy or other document that you need or would like a licensed attorney to review? Don’t assume you know the legal effect of the language within your document just because it’s there; some of the terms are probably illegal and unenforceable. Let our attorneys tell you what your document properly outlines and legally requires of both parties.
Our attorneys will review your document in detail and make sure that you are aware of your duties and responsibilities under the contract, as well as what terms or actions may or may not be enforceable according to current case law. At the end of the review, you will have a thorough understanding of all parties’ obligations and an understanding of what grey areas may exist or need to be addressed to strengthen your legal position.
In today’s easy access internet world, individuals can draft and execute “boilerplate” contracts without the advice or review from a licensed attorney. While easy, your specific needs and desires are not addressed by a generic form document and important terms and protections can easily be left out or misunderstand. If you don’t have a full understanding of the current legal landscape and what terms are legal and can be enforced and what terms are illegal and unenforceable, you may rely on terms of an agreement that you expect the other party to perform or that you think you need to perform that may be illegal and unenforceable. A classic example: A term in a residential lease agreement that says that the landlord can lock out the tenant without obtaining a legal eviction, that term will not be enforced and if acted upon could create liability against the landlord.
Don’t take actions without knowing the legal ramifications of the document you are relying on.
Our attorneys can review any of the following types of documents and more:
- Business Contracts
- Corporate Documents
- Court Orders
- Employment Contracts
- Insurance Policies
- Lease Agreements
- Personal Agreements
- Wills and Trusts
- And many more!
